Burnett/Washington Street Project Information
A large parcel in the StonyBrook Neighborhood, 3.39 acres, currently the site of Flanagan & Seaton Motor Car Co., is under agreement with a partnership of developers. The SNA is asking each Stony Brook neighborhood resident to become familiar with the project and submit written and/or oral testimony. This project could transform the neighborhood and the developers need to hear from residents.
The site, bordered by McBride Street to the North, Washington Street to the East, Burnett Street to the South and the MBTA Orange Line rail corridor to the West has been divided by the developers into three components:

Short History
The SNA first became aware of this pending development in April 2011. Since then, the SNA has formed a Washington/Burnett Sub-Committee in order to solicit opinion from the neighborhood and craft a consensus around a project which will transform the area.
As part of that effort, the Washington/Burnett Sub-Committee conducted a community charrette in early August, conducted an online survey, surveyed neighbors door-to-door and recently held a neighborhood roundtable discussion on the progress of the project. All this while meeting weekly as a sub-committee to synthesize and analyze the information collected. At the August SNA meeting, the neighborhood association empowered the Washington/Burnett Sub-Committee to communicate the community's desires directly to the developers.
The development team, composed of SSG Development and New Boston Ventures filed (as of Aug 22) an Expanded Project Notification Form (PNF) with the BRA commencing the public comment process. That public process review is currently scheduled to end on October 20, 2011. However, a public meeting must be held as part of that public process and currently no public meeting date has been scheduled.
Due to our request, the comment period was extended to October 20, 2011. A date for the public meeting on the project has yet to be chosen, but it will likely be from 6-8pm at the Farnsworth House located at 90 South Street in JP. Stay tuned for a date.
Members of the Washington/Burnett Sub-Committee had two meeting with the development team, lead by Harry Collings. The first meeting was, on Tuesday September 20 to present the community's plan designed from input gathered from our extensive outreach efforts. The second meeting took place on October 6 as a follow-up to gauge their reaction to our ideas for the site. Disappointed in the results of the second meeting, we have no further meeting scheduled with the developers.
